July 4, 2012

It started with a trip to Stricker's Grove then we wound up blowing up watermelons at someone's family reunion before we found our way to The Anchor.

I haven't really had the 4th of July off in years. The past seven summers I've usually spent America's birthday sweating in a crowded amusement park working as what felt like a glorified "carnie" sometimes. So what do I do when I have the fourth of July off? I got to an amusement park.

Mainly for the food though... and the skeeball... and cause it's on the way to a firework's store.

Stricker's Grove Midway.

After purchasing ingredients for the  "Elixir of Patriotism," (fireworks and beer), Ryan Texas Ranger brought Matt and I to his friend's family reunion where they were initially suspicious of us then welcomed us with open arms to their homemade fireworks show.

Low break of a 4 inch shell.

We ended the day within the nautical themed walls of The Anchor in Covington.
