Random Photographs, Thoughts, & Tales | July - August 2025
A few weeks ago, someone said to me: “You know why they made sidewalks? Cause the streets ain’t for everybody!”

While working on a quick story about Cincinnati’s Skywalk system, this was a photograph I didn’t end up using—but it shows the stub of a former segment that once connected with the Carew Tower Arcade.

Thank you for your service. I miss you every day.

My mom’s side of the family has a history with both the window business and losing fingers. I only had to patch one pane and all my fingers remained, but I did come away with six stitches and an ER bill I didn’t need.

Riding the Metro 16 through Camp Washington.
The constant stopping and going combined with the stench of industrial cleaner never fails to make me sick. Still, if I can help it, I’d rather take the bus than borrow a car or get a ride. It’s not simply a matter of pride, but honesty. The public bus, despite its lack of punctuality and its penchant for passenger drama, is never shy about its true cost.

Main Event Bar and Indian Restaurant:
Here’s the deal: I’ve been lectured about this place by so many people that all I feel comfortable sharing at this moment is that this is a bar in downtown Cincinnati which currently features an eclectic menu alongside the same, nostalgic aroma of stale beer, cigarettes, popcorn, and urinal cakes that the Cincinnati Gardens once did. I’m not saying that this is a good option for getting Indian food, pizza, wings, or some combination thereof late at night when one is hungry, but I am saying that it is an option for getting Indian food, pizza, wings, or some combination thereof late at night when one is hungry.

Cincinnati Open:
I don’t know anything about tennis and I’m pretty cynical, but I absolutely love the meme which points out that only two of the world’s major tennis tournaments (Paris and suburban Cincinnati) have an Eiffel Tower. The recent renovations to this facility are impressive and those efforts have kept this global event in the area for the long term.

The Natural Bridge Skylift gift shop and downtown Cincinnat’s arena are the only places I know of that actively sell RC Cola.

“Missin’ You on Main Street” is what I put on the postcards that I turned this photograph into before mailing them to my former neighbors (who I miss).

Cincinnati has a bikeshare system and Lime scooters, but it’s never had LimeBikes. I double checked the app after making this photograph and none were available, so I like to think that someone rode one here from the west coast.
