Cincinnati North Hotel Demolition From Above
Yesterday I published an article about the demolition of the Cincinnati North Hotel, a massive 10-story abandoned hotel in suburban Cincinnati that was also formerly a Best Western, Ramada, and Sheraton. We first explored this place in its abandoned state a few years ago, checking it out from top to bottom while an oblivious guard sat in a car out front. I hadn't seen the roof since that night, until today. My friend Jason sent in these photos he made over the past weekend from his drone. These awesome images document an "iconic eyesore" of the suburban landscape from a unique perspective. From the feedback of yesterday's article, it seems the hotel is all rubble as of today, with the site beginning to be cleared.
The End of The Cincinnati North Hotel
North of the city, a massive and abandoned hotel is finally coming down. Once a familiar structure on the suburban skyline, it finally had its date with the wrecking ball.
The Dayton Executive Hotel
I don't know if you could call these lobby stairs grand, but just like the "Grand Staircase" on Titanic, this one is also covered in water. It's hardly a welcoming site for guests at the lobby check-in, but any guests the Dayton Executive Hotel sees these days aren't of the "normal" variety.
The Cincinnati North Hotel
"Awful Hotel. Stayed here two nights on a business trip. The hotel was horrible! It was dirty, old, broken down, and the shower was moldy! Will not return!!"
Those comments echoed so many other negative ones in the online review section of a hotel that had a "100% Do not recommend" rating on "TripAdvisor.com." I couldn't tell you from personal experience as that cold winter evening when Venkman, Lance Delune and myself ventured to the Cincinnati North Hotel was the first night I ever spent in the place. My only other memories were vague childhood thoughts of a ten-story hotel that is now a modern ruin towering over the Cincinnati suburb of Springdale, Ohio.
