Announcing: "Fading Ads of Cincinnati"
I am incredibly excited to announce that I've signed an agreement with The History Press to photograph and write a book about "Ghost Signs" in the greater Cincinnati area. Defined as "fading advertisements" and "disappearing art," "ghost signs" harken back to a region's economic and cultural past. Combining modern photography with historical research, I hope to create a book that brings to light these artifacts that are hiding in plain sight.

An Update on the "Dayton Executive Hotel"
The Dayton Executive Hotel originally opened in 1962. Initially a 225-room hotel that offered a unique and upscale restaurant, the lodging establishment would delve into an eyesore just off the interstate. We explored it back in 2012, but thanks to my friend Mike, we have this update.
Last Guests of the Kings Island Resort
The amusement park next door was closed for the year, the resort for good. The final visitor's checked out months ago, but we were about to be the last guests of the Kings Island Resort.

They'd show up mid-week, near the start of third shift lining up their pickup trucks one by one in the parking lot. They'd sit on the other side of the restaurant - another group of regulars different from the usual group of regulars. One night, the two groups converged - ours and theirs - for a coffee laden discourse about why we all come to Kings Waffle.

Full Take 2014: Every Photograph I Made In A Year
Usually at the end of a year I try (or at least intend) to make a final post on QC/D, something that kind of wraps up the year. Honestly, it's one of the most frustrating things to come up with. In past years there have been mixed results. For 2014, I decided to try something different.

The End of Suburban Cincinnati's Alpine Chalets
Originally envisioned as an alpine lodge to complement the nearby amusement park, the Kings Island Inn and Resort attracted the likes of the Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch. In its later years, it changed with the times and fell from its role as part of a "Midwestern Disney World." In the coming days, it's headed for demolition.
