I was browsing UER.ca the other day when I came across a thread by a user named "
AeroFennec." Aero posted
some photographs he had taken while exploring Shea Stadium, former home of the New York Mets, while it was being demolished. He remarked about his memories he had from the ballpark and I was really inspired by the photographs he had taken of Shea in it's partially demolished state. Seeing the Reds play this past Friday was a nice way to wrap up a stressful and shitty week at work. AeroFennec's photos reminded me of the games I saw as a kid at Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field. Some of my favorite photographs growing up were ones of the Cincinati Skyline with Cinergy Field in the foreground. Those mid 90's photographs are iconic in my mind, I just hope that one day maybe the photographs I take today will mean something to someone in a similar fashion.

Update | Oct. 7, 2017:
- Since making the photographs for this post and complaining about the Cubs, I've seen a lot of baseball. I watched the Reds embarrass the Cubs organization many, many times over the following few years. I was there when Jay Bruce clinched a playoff berth in 2010. Saw the playoff loss that year too. I stomached through 2011 and then watched playoff losses again in 2012. In 2013, I nearly wept as the Reds lose a one-game wildcard playoff game and then fell into obscurity.
Yet, we were still making the playoffs and the Cubs were garbage. Then we fired Dusty and entered a "rebuilding" phase. I got to see the All Star Game in 2015 (which was incredible), but then had to suffer twice in the Fall of 2016. The Cubs finally won a World Series and Donald Trump was elected President of the United States.
Fuck the Cubs.
Maybe one day I'll edit this post to reflect on how the Reds finally stopped "rebuilding" and eventually found winning ways. However, looks like Bryan Price is sticking around. At least we've got Saint Joey.
