FC Cincinnati v. Valencia CF

On Monday, July 24, 2017, FC Cincinnati of the American second division United Soccer League took on Valencia CF of Spain's first division La Liga. The event marked the second international friendly in the local club's history, taking place among what's already been a season of memorable matches.

I took a break from standing at the front of The Bailey with a megaphone to shoot some photos and just take in the event. Here's a selection of photographs made that night.

- Drummers and marchers congregating on the stadium concourse.

- The Bailey supporters section.

- "No one likes us and that's ok..."

- The banner on the right was painted based off of a photograph I made last year after goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt received a black eye.

- A Nippert Stadium beer vendor with excellent taste in scarves.

- University of Cincinnati and professional soccer alumni Omar Cummings played his final match and was treated to a warm sendoff at the half. Had the opportunity to meet him last year, incredibly nice guy.

- Omar on the pitch.

- A crowd much larger than the ones seen by the last professional soccer team to play here.

- Exploring the upper deck.

- We met a German man named Joerg who travels the world watching soccer. Introduced him to Skyline Chili after the match.

Five more home matches this season, plus another round in the US Open Cup taking place in Miami. What's already been a great season will hopefully get even better.
