[35mm Ohio] Celina, Cincinnati, and Annie Oakley’s Cemetery
Coming back from Fort Wayne, Indiana and following routes similar to what my pal Nate and I had been traveling on a few weeks earlier in Northwest Ohio + around Cincinnati.
Rubber Bowl Sunday
When I decided to head to Cleveland this weekend, I didn’t realize that it was the same weekend as the Super Bowl. Not that it was a problem, I wasn’t too concerned.
Fort Wayne
After a quick pass through of Fort Wayne in 2018, I wrote: “[this trip has been] another reminder that, despite all the times I've been to Fort Wayne in my life, I need to make a better effort to spend more time exploring that city. It's a great place in the Midwest.”
[35mm Ohio] Final Roll of Film For 2019
I started shooting film again in 2018, but things really picked up this year. To date, I’ve traveled ~5,889.9 miles in my car and friends' cars (along with countless miles walked/biked) while running around the state for various things—shooting along the way when I can make time.
[35mm Ohio] Burgers, Beetles, Beer, and Ironton
Northwest and southern portions of the state via a Minolta XD-11 and Kodak Ultramax 400.
[35mm Ohio] Clayton, Greenville, North Star, Celina, and The Temple of Tolerance
On the road with a Minolta XD-11 and roll of Kodak Ultramax 400.
West Virginia
My friend Ryan wanted to take a weekend trip to Charleston, West Virginia and then swing through other parts of that state, Kentucky, and Ohio before heading home. He was kind enough to invite me along.
And then kind enough to tolerate me as I kept getting car sick, had delayed us initially, and had brought us to a terrible truck stop diner.
He’s a great friend.
Camden Park - May 18, 2008
During a recent trip through West Virginia, Ryan and I stopped to make a few photographs of Camden Park. Already closed for the season, the quick detour got me thinking about some older images from a visit to the park over ten years ago and how this place intersected with several other QC/D stories/elements of my work over the years.
[35mm Ohio] Cleveland, Cincinnati, and The Vortex
Fujifilm Superia X-tra 400 in a Canon AF3MII.
[35mm Ohio] Cheap Fuji in Cleveland
The compact Canon “Autoboy 2” has been a fairly reliable ever since I “Frankenstein-ed” two non working models into one. On another trip to Cleveland, it was the only camera I brought along, opting for the simplicity of its operation after becoming exhausted from the frustrations of the previous trip.
July - October 2019
Been traveling a lot lately and shooting a ton of film—still covered some local things, though. Favorite photographs made between the end of July 2019 and the beginning of October 2019 that didn't necessarily have a place in a larger story or post.
Blink 2019
Favorite aspect of Blink 2019?
Seeing the Riverfront Transit Center be utilized.
[35mm Ohio] A Safari on the Shores of Lake Erie
Llamas, guanacos, and alpacas are not native to Africa.
Or Ohio, for that matter.
HaborArts Shipyard Gallery - East Boston
“Hey, did you just park a car there‽”
“Yeah...”
There was no reply to our answer, just outstretched arms and a look of exasperation beneath a generic hat reading “SECURITY.”
Salisbury Beach, MA
A nice little spot near the northern end of Massachusetts where the wind blows in off the Atlantic and summer still feels alive despite the date on the calendar.
[35mm Ohio] Vintage Cameras Be Damned
A once reliable 35mm camera and its problems/once reliable 35mm cameras and their problems.
