The Salton Sea
The 104 degree temperature heightened the smell—salty water and rotting fish with a breeze of wildfire forming a haze over the horizon. Even as we fought off constant swarms of flies and left footprints in the sludge-ridden shore, this was somehow one of the most beautiful places I’d ever been.

A Day When “Nowheres” Prevailed Over the “Usual Somewheres”
Venturing from Vegas through the desert en route to Phoenix with many stops along the way.

The Rest of Vegas: Summer 2020
Travis sold me on the idea of giving this city another look, devoting more time to exploring beyond the glow of neon lights and tourist traps. We enjoyed ramen at a hole-in-the-wall, took in the city’s Koreatown and Chinatown, wandered the Arts District, sipped drinks at a strip mall tiki joint, and wandered Fremont St. from its light show experience all the way down to the parts that still echo the work of Fred Sigman.

Circus Circus
Documenting a slice of kitschy Vegas charm known to outsiders of a certain age and cultural persuasion. This was the place you’d see on television and in travel magazines. One day it may be gone.

Las Vegas: Wings of Gold
The first in a series from a trip to the western United States—a combination of digital and 35mm, rumors of witchcraft, inspiration from 1995, and the vestiges of a Vegas that was not its normal self.

Spilt Coffee in St. Louis
An upended future, two arches, a quote by Joel Meyerowitz, and a search for clarity in the Midwest.

The Riviera of the Midwest
They say "there's more than corn in Indiana," and they're right. There's a classic boardwalk amusement park sitting on a midwestern lake: fried food, roller coasters, games, and all.

Fort Wayne
After a quick pass through of Fort Wayne in 2018, I wrote: “[this trip has been] another reminder that, despite all the times I've been to Fort Wayne in my life, I need to make a better effort to spend more time exploring that city. It's a great place in the Midwest.”

West Virginia
My friend Ryan wanted to take a weekend trip to Charleston, West Virginia and then swing through other parts of that state, Kentucky, and Ohio before heading home. He was kind enough to invite me along.
And then kind enough to tolerate me as I kept getting car sick, had delayed us initially, and had brought us to a terrible truck stop diner.
He’s a great friend.

HaborArts Shipyard Gallery - East Boston
“Hey, did you just park a car there‽”
“Yeah...”
There was no reply to our answer, just outstretched arms and a look of exasperation beneath a generic hat reading “SECURITY.”

Salisbury Beach, MA
A nice little spot near the northern end of Massachusetts where the wind blows in off the Atlantic and summer still feels alive despite the date on the calendar.

Florida and the 'Majesty of the Seas'
According to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., the Majesty of the Seas is a Sovereign-class cruise ship. According to Star Trek canon, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) is a Sovereign-class starship in service to the United Federation of Planets. While Captain Picard's vessel is unlikely to take you to Cuba, Captain Daniel's will.

The Quest For McDonald's Pizza
Have you ever seen “Crossroads” with Britney Spears (and Dan Aykroyd, apparently)?

The World's Largest Rubik's Cube, The City of The Sunsphere, and Colonel Sanders
Some days you win, some days you lose, and some days you eat Wendy's twice.
