Random Photographs, Thoughts, & Tales | March - April, 2026

Sitting here and watching a classic UFL rivalry: Battlehawks at Kings during Derby Week™.

Hunter S. Thompson’s favorite sport in Hunter S. Thompson’s hometown overlapping with an event Hunter S. Thompson hated.

I may be a diehard Stallions fan, but I’m pulling for Louisville in this one.

Got plans to watch them take on the Aviators up in Columbus, Ohio at Old Crew Stadium in what will (hopefully) be a grudge match with United Bowl implications.

Assuming we can even get tickets, of course.

And while we’re on the topic of irreverent Spring football—the Cincinnati Slingers actually managed to play a game.

Though their league’s legitimacy may still be in doubt, I hope to watch them from the enticing environs of “the Beehive” if they’re still in business two weeks from today and I have no other pressing matters to attend to/don’t completely forget.

Anyways, I didn’t think I was going to shoot much in April or March, but here we are.

It’s been a surprisingly lovely spring in the inane apocalypse and St. Louis just attempted a four-point field goal.

They came up just short, though.

The ‘Queen City Wine & Spirits’ Sign:

Was wandering underground with a friend when we came across this:

Instantly, I recognized it:

Kings Island employees wait to board a Rt. 72X at Government Square Area E in front of “Queen City Wine & Spirits,” June 2018.

The downtown liquor store relocated around the corner in early 2025 and its former location is set to become a new Metro sales office.

The sign used a royalty-free silhouette interpretation of Cincinnati’s skyline. One frequently utilized by both local television affiliates and used car lots.

Riverfront Transit Center Infrastructure:

The disappointing reality of Cincinnati’s current public transportation logistics don’t allow for the Riverfront Transit Center to be a great—or even good—option as the city’s primary public transit hub. Hence, the crumbling infrastructure along 2nd and 3rd streets seen in the images above.

Bike Ride with Bob and Phil:

There’s been two times in my life where I’ve pedaled over the see-through metal grating of the Roebling Suspension Bridge. This day was one of them and the first was a few years ago.

Not gonna make that mistake a third time, though.

Honestly, it’s more unsettlling than climbing to the top of the damn thing (not that I’ve ever done that).

Cincinnati often has a very “Mighty Ducks”/“Minneapolis” aesthetic/vibe going in the spring.

“Section 31 was an organization which claimed to protect the security interests of United Earth and, later, the United Federation of Planets. During the mid-23rd century, they were considered a critical division of Starfleet Intelligence, while by the 24th century, they were believed to be a rogue organization not considered part of the Federation, but were in fact still part of Starfleet Intelligence.”
